Push-In Vibrating Wire Presure Cell

The Vibrating Wire Pressure Cell is designed to measure total pressure, earth pressure and ground water pressure.

Manufactured incorporating our 30 years of expertise in vibrating wire instrument technology the P9 consists of a pointed rectangular spade-shaped flatjack formed from two sheets of steel welded around the periphery. The narrow gap between the plates is filled with oil. The cell is connected to a Vibrating Wire Pressure Transducer by a short length of steel tubing forming a sealed hydraulic system. The spade-shaped cell is welded to a support plate and connector boss providing a slim profile to assist installation.

A porous filter disc is incorporated in the support plate and is connected to a second Vibrating Wire Pressure Transducer providing an integral Piezometer. The instrument is capable of providing total pressure, earth pressure and ground water pressure readings. The two Vibrating Wire Transducers are tandem mounted behind the spade-shaped cell and protected within the installing pipe. A cable connects the transducers to a read-out, terminal unit or Datalogger. Robust and reliable with good long term stability.

Simple, accurate, robust with excellent long term stability.
Accuracy unaffected by cable length.
Low volume change and slender profile, simple to install in trench or borehole.
Fast response to low volume pressure changes.
Design prevents case stresses from affecting readings.
