Vibrating Wire Spot Weldable Strain Gauge

The Soil Instruments spot weldable vibrating wire strain gauge is used for measuring strain in steel members and consists of a vibrating wire element anchored at each.

The anchors are separated by a small floating stainless steel tube with ‘O’ ring seals which protect the vibrating wire. A small compression spring and grip washer maintains the vibrating wire in tension during transit and prior to installation.

After spot welding to the structure, changes in strain are monitored by the coil assembly mounted over the gauge.

Accurate, very good long term stability.
Accuracy unaffected by cable length.
Small, low profile.
Removable coil unit.
Waterproofed to 7 bar pressure.
Range adjustable to suit compression or tension.
Suitable for remote reading and data-logging.
Over-voltage surge arrestor fitted to protect against electrical damage.
Integral thermistor.
